Mainz

We stopped at the botanical garden in the morning.

Some great inspiration for when we get back home. Doesn't look too difficult, right?

Beautiful church in the main square. Mainz Dome.

Next, we visited the Gutenberg Museum. Sometime between 1452 and 1455, Johannes Gutenberg published the Gutenberg Bible with a moveable type press.

Though most of the blurbs were in German, there were a lot of interesting demonstrations of books, woodcuts, presses, and historical writings.

The miniature 'books' were fun.

Grades of freedom of the press. America needs to work on its freedom.

We both ordered the Mainz plate (Meenzer teller). The cheese bowl.... tasted strange.

Wiesbaden

Good morning, Maiz.

There's lots of shops in this city. We came here to buy a cuckoo clock, but unfortunately we forgot to take a picture...

Don't see these plants every day. Castor bean.

Really neat church made of bricks. There was an international festival happening nearby.

We got some Eritrean food. The people at the booth were super nice to us! The food was delicious.

There was also a statue.

The cappuccino at this place was REALLY good. The milk tasted more... fatty? They also sold bras in there. For some reason.

We went shopping today. Our cart was filled with candy, for the most part.

Delicious doner fries. We also got a huge calzone.

Darts are a big thing here. Barney army.

To Maiz

Another day on the train, from Munich to Maiz. We sat opposite two German girls who chatted the entire ride...

We passed by a lot of vineyards, some of which were on hills.

Our favorite traffic mascot.

Heiliggeist was a great restaurant with a beautiful interior. It used to be a church?

More Munich

The Museum of 5 Continents had a lot of old cultural stuff from around the world.

We visited the English garden, which is a huge park in Munich. It's a real peaceful place.

Awesome surfing at the foot of the alps.

We found a loukoumades shop, but I'm afraid to say that they weren't very good...

American sandwich.

Unexpected old gate.

Cool shops.

The food was great. There's often vegetarian options at restuarants here. Bread dumplings are an underappreciated dish back home.

BMW and Glockenspiel

The BMW Museum had about anything related to the company you would want to see.

We got to Rathaus-Glockenspiel at noon for the mechanical clock dance. It was built in 1908 to commemorate a marriage which occured in the mid-1500s. It seemed a bit old and tired when we stopped to watch it.

There's a large shopping area around the clock, so we stopped for some weisswurst and a pretzel. The sausage was herby and juicy, and the pretzel was flavorful.

The Kunsthalle Munchen Exhibition had a lot of visitors. Lots of fun flower-related art.
 Dinner was filling.
